Life following bariatric surgery

Following bariatric surgery patients are required to follow a strict diet depending upon the length of time follwing surgery. This diet consists of both the types of food as well as consistency.

The first stage includes only clear liquids for 48 hrs after surgery.

The second stage includes both clear liquids and full liquids for the next ten days.

Stage 3 starts liquid foods for the next 14 days (26 days out of surgery)

Finally, stage 4 reintroduces "normal foods" starting with soft foods and working up to solid food.

In addition, a regimen of vitamins are required at a certain point in the recovery and continue for the rest of your life
